What is an access panel?
An access panel can be either MDF, metal or plasterboard and is a door used to access, cover or protect mechanical or electrical systems. Often used in a wall or ceiling in a commercial building.
They’re very versatile, as they can be fire rated, acoustic rated, airtight, watertight and manufactured to your desired size.
Where is an access panel used?
As mentioned above, access panels are very versatile. They can be used in rooms such as; Bathrooms: back of faucets, under bath plumbing and shower mixing valves. Kitchens: under sink plumbing, shut off valves, cooker hood ducting. Living area: Concealed TV, network and telephone cables. Gas & electric: metres, security systems and junction boxes.
However, not recommended for external use.
Which access panel should I choose?

MDF access panels – these panels provide cost-effective and easy methods of reaching wall voids. The framing is designed to be sealed directly onto a structural opening, with the door being easily removable. They offer both acoustic and airtight performance and perfect for Kitchens and Bathrooms.
- Metal door access panels – these access panels have a removable flush metal door, are easy to handle. They offer excellent security while still being relatively lightweight.
- RW 33 Metal door acoustic panels - We also provide a special designed metal door acoustic access panel which is built with acoustic foam inside door panel and rubber belt between door and frame. This type of access panel is mainly use for commercial or high-end residential projects.
- Plasterboard door – these types of access panel can be plastered and painted over, which will do a fantastic job of concealing both the door and frame.

Flange frame panels – these can be fitted into existing ceilings or walls. There is a 25mm frame which surrounds the access panel edge, hence the name. These are available in both plasterboard and metal.
- Beaded frame panels – these panels have a beaded edge, which allows room for plastering up to the door edge, thus concealing the frame entirely. These access panels are also available in both metal and standard plasterboard.
